What do I do if my computer sounds like it is on but there is nothing on the screen?
First things first, If you can tell that your computer is on but you have a black screen, try wiggling the mouse. If that doesn't work, then press a key on your computer or if you have a laptop, press the power button. Your computer could be in a sleep mode.
If that didn't work, press and hold the power button down until you don't hear that the computer or laptop is on. Let it rest for a minute and then try turning it back on.
If you can't get the computer to come back on, then unplug it. If you have a tower (box) then pull the plug our of the wall or the power strip. If you have a laptop, unplug the cord from the laptop, and pull out the battery. Most batteries are on the bottom, towards the back and there should be a lever or a latch that will release the battery. Let it sit for a minute or two and then plug it back in (battery and cord) and press the power button.
Doing this will reset the computers memory and allow the computer to start up fresh. It's as if you turned all all connections to the awake world and slept well and woke up refreshed in the morning.
